"Crescent City was a good home base for us while discovering redwood forests,
wild beaches and the great Smith River on our seven day adventure to the North Coast
in late October 2007.", quote Bev Brady, California Travel Dreams Guide
Lodging
Our personal recommendation!
Curly Redwood Lodge

The Curly Redwood Lodge is one of northern California’s most unique lodges. It was built
in 1957 from one curly redwood tree that produced 57,000 board feet of lumber. This
would probably not be done today as the "old growth" forest is now protected,
plus the price would be prohibited. The 'Curly' redwood is unique because
of the curly grain of the wood, unlike straight grained redwood. The
Lodge is 5 minutes from the Redwood National & State Parks, and
right across the street from the harbor & beaches. A good
home base for exploring North Coasts rivers, beaches
and forests. See our personal and unbiased
recommendation below. We pay the
going rate and do not ask
for compensation, so
we can be trusted!
"After checking several overpriced motels on the main drag we chose well constructed Curly
Redwood Lodge, with extra large rooms, beautiful redwood interiors & quality furnishing.
We do not hesitate to recommend this well price quality accommodation. The off season
rate (2 queen double) was under $60 per night.", CTD Guide - North Coast tour 10/2007
