Wedding Guide - Some sage advice
GIVE YOUR GUESTS & RELATIVES SPECIFIC TASKS TO ACCOMPLISH!
Most people love to feel useful during an event. Giving guests specific things to do will,
also get people mingling. Saying to Aunt Fanny "you're in charge of making sure all of his
relatives meet all of our relatives.", will give her a chance to feel useful; and will make
sure that both sides of the families meet each other and don't feel left out. Or putting a
shy guest or relative incharge of asking guests for their music selection requests or maybe
making sure guests all have something to drink. You can assign several people to the same
task for a large event. And remember wedding parties are much more fun when everyone feels a
part of the inner circle and celebration. Much better than being waited on! Plus it is an
honor to be included in the wedding party and making the event run smoothly. Being given a
task to perform lets people know you value them and their skills. Try to match their skill
for the task if it is an especially important task. Matching important tasks to the guest's
natural skill will reap the benefit of a soother event. Also note that giving a shy guest
a specific task that allows them to mingle will give them a great opportunity to feel more
comfortable. You might want to send nice notes prior to the event requesting assistance,
or call them on the phone and tell them you're counting on them; and will put them down on
the list to handle that specific task! Below are a few more examples.
A)
"Get Uncle Marvin and all the other older men in the wedding party to make sure to dance at
least one dance with each of the women you assign to them. Ask Uncle Marvin to also wear
his old saddle oxford shoes for flare! Some of the younger guys might be encouraged to dance
with some of the more shy wedding guests with a little coaxing! Also get the better dancers
paired up to give the dance floor a little pazazz!
B)
Get Aunt Harriet and her cousin Jordan to be in charge of getting the immediate family members
together to form a circle on the dance floor. When the band begins to play the song "Love and
Marriage' that will be their cue to round up the people for the circle!
C)
Get Cousin Ivan to be in charge of bubble blowing during the dance, since you know it is very
unlikely he will choose to dance. It will get him off the hook; make him feel useful, plus some
wonderful happy bubbles will be floating about! This is another good task for young terrors you
want to keep busy and out of trouble during the wedding reception!
etc.etc.etc..............
