Big Sur Hiking, Biking & Trail Maps
Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park
Redwoods, conifers, oaks, sycamores, cottonwoods, maples, alders and willows
magnificent open meadows. Wildlife includes black-tail deer, gray
squirrels, raccoons, skunks, and birds, such as water
ouzels and belted kingfishers. Hikers enjoy
scenic trails, including self-guided
nature trail. Some campsites
along the Big Sur River.
Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park
Named after Julia Pfeiffer Burns, a pioneer woman in the Big Sur country. The park
spans from the Big Sur coastline into nearby 3,000-foot ridges. Redwood, tan
oak, madrone, chaparral, and an 80-foot water fall grace this park.
Andrew Molera State Park
In the spectacular Big Sur area, this park is still relatively undeveloped and offers
visitors great hiking, fishing and beachcombing. A not to be missed place of beauty!
Point Sur
Point Sur Lightstation sits 361 feet above the surf on a large volcanic rock.
A turn-of-the century Lightstation open to the public. It is
on the National Register of Historic Places.

Big Sur is located on the coast of Central California between San Luis Obispo
and Carmel. It is only accessible from Highway 1.
From: San Francisco take Highway 101 South to Highway 156 West. Connect to Highway 1
South, Continue through Monterey/Carmel. Or, for the most scenic route, take Hwy 1
down the coast from San Francisco. Distance: 150 miles.
From: Los Angeles, take Highway 101 North to San Luis Obispo. Connect to Hwy 1 North
all the way to Big Sur. Aprox 311 miles
